Welcome to
the Ozark and Heart of America Beefmaster
Breeders' Homepage. We're glad you have found us in cyberspace, and we hope
that by following our helpful links and learning about our cattle you will
want to visit our operations in person.
Who are we? We are a group of Beefmaster breeders
in a region that encompasses much of the heart of the Midwest. We call ourselves
Ozark and Heart of America Beefmaster Breeders
because we wanted to maintain the core identity of the two groups that merged
years ago to form OHOA.
Heart of America Beefmasters (HOA) was begun in
1977 by Fred Farthing, Tracy Rugg, and Walt Truitt.
The three men solicited other members and established the first spring HOA
purebred sale in 1978. Ozark Beefmaster Breeders
formed in the early 1990s, with Garland and Gary Sanny, and Tom Hood being among the earliest members.
Ozark BB established a fall purebred sale at Goodman, Missouri. Both HOA and Ozark
prospered throughout the 1990s, with each group boasting nearly 100 members
during the peak of the cattle cycle.
Officially, we are a Marketing Group of Beefmaster Breeders United (BBU),
our national breed association in San Antonio, Texas. Our goal is, quite
simply, to use our numbers to promote the success of our breed and our
breeders. We do this through Field Days, purebred sales, and commingled
commercial feeder calf sales.Upcoming Events
Our directors and officers serve in
a volunteer capacity and are elected annually.
If you'd like to learn more about OHOA breeders and events, feel free to
contact any of the officers listed above or members listed on our members page. You'll find functional cattle and friendly
people wherever you go.
